MELBOURNE: On Wednesday, 8 October 2026, the Armenian National Committee of Australia (ANC-AU) hosted a Community Town Hall at the Armenian Community Centre (Hye Getron) in Springvale, at the heart of Melbourne’s Armenian-Australian community.
The event provided an opportunity for the ANC-AU to update community members on its advocacy and activities in Victoria and across Australia, while offering a forum for community members to share their feedback, raise concerns, and discuss how the organisation can better represent and serve their needs.
The Town Hall followed two days of advocacy meetings on 7 and 8 October, during which ANC-AU National Head Office representatives Sebastian Majarian and Lara Ferhad met with candidates in key Armenian-Australian electorates ahead of the 2026 Victorian Election. These meetings aimed to introduce candidates to the Armenian-Australian community, highlight the needs of local Armenian-Australian organisations, and advocate on key issues affecting the broader community.
During the Town Hall, the ANC-AU shared updates from these meetings and outlined its ongoing advocacy efforts. The discussion also provided valuable insight into the community’s priorities, helping inform the ANC-AU’s ongoing work to represent Armenian-Australians and advocate for their needs across Victoria.
Speaking on the importance of the Town Hall, ANC-AU Political Affairs Director, Sebastian Majarian, said: “It was fantastic to see such a strong turnout from Victoria’s Armenian community at the Town Hall. We thank everyone who attended and took the time to engage with the ANC-AU’s work.”
“Our advocacy is only as strong as the community that stands behind it. The feedback, ideas and perspectives shared by attendees are invaluable in helping us better represent the Armenian-Australian community. We’re grateful for the opportunity to connect directly with our community, share updates on our work and hear firsthand about the issues that matter most to them.”
