SYDNEY: The Armenian National Committee of Australia (ANC-AU) is pleased to announce that applications are now open for the third edition of the ANC-AU Junior Advocates Program, set to take place in Canberra on October 27th and 28th, 2025.
Launched in 2023, this initiative is designed to inspire Armenian-Australian Year 11 students to consider future careers in politics and related fields. Through an immersive two-day experience in the nation’s capital, participants will gain valuable exposure to the workings of the Australian Federal Parliament.
The Junior Advocates Program offers students a unique opportunity to take part in interactive workshops and mock parliamentary exercises, helping them better understand the day-to-day responsibilities of those working in the Australian Federal Parliament.
Throughout the two days, participants will be accompanied by members of the ANC-AU National Office and Board, along with staff from Galstaun College. Program highlights include, job shadowing with parliamentary staff, Q & A segments with elected officials and journalists addressing an average day in the office , and attending a live session of Parliamentary Question Time and a networking event.
In addition, a key feature of the program is the ‘My Voice, My Choice’ initiative, where students will deliver a 90-second Private Member's Statement inside the historic chambers of Old Parliament House. This segment encourages students to speak passionately on an issue that matters to them, as if they are a Member of Parliament.

ANC-AU Executive Director Michael Kolokossian added, “We’re proud to continue this program for the third year following the success of our inaugural year. The Junior Advocates Program is more than just an educational experience, it’s a pathway to building future leaders and change-makers.
