The Armenian National Committee of Australia (ANC-AU) is pleased to announce that applications are now open for the fourth edition of the ANC-AU Junior Advocates program, set to be held for the first time in New South Wales Parliament on the 5th and 6th of August, 2026.
Launched in 2023, the program seeks to inspire Armenian-Australian Year 11 students to explore future careers in politics and related fields. The immersive two-day experience enables participants to gain valuable exposure to the workings of the New South Wales State Parliament.
The Junior Advocates program offers students a unique opportunity to take part in interactive workshops and collaborative activities, helping them better understand the day-to-day responsibilities of those working in the State Parliament.
Throughout the two days, participants will be accompanied by members of the ANC-AU National Office and Board, along with staff from Galstaun College. Program highlights include, job shadowing with parliamentary staff, Q & A segments with elected officials addressing an average day in the office, and attending a live session of Parliamentary Question Time.
In addition, a key feature of the program is the ‘Politics, Progress, and You’ initiative, where students will engage in an interactive workshop to learn about the democracy & government in Australia, and how young Armenian-Australians can make an impactful contribution to the wider society.

ANC-AU Political Affairs Director, Sebastian Majarian, highlighted the ANC-AU’s excitement for the program: "The ANC-AU Junior Advocates program is one of the highlights of our year. It's incredibly rewarding to introduce young Armenian-Australians to the world of politics and, hopefully, inspire the next generation of advocates, political staffers, public servants and elected representatives.”
He continued: “This year is especially exciting as, for the first time, the program will be held at the Parliament of New South Wales, giving participants the opportunity to engage directly with their local Members of Parliament and gain a first-hand insight into how our state legislature works.”
Applications are now open and interested students are encouraged to apply early, as places are limited to just 15 participants.
A $60 participation fee will cover all costs, including transportation, meals, and accommodation for the duration of the two-day program.
