ADELAIDE: The Armenian National Committee of Australia (ANC-AU) has officially re-launched its Adelaide branch, further expanding its national footprint with active representation now established in Canberra, Melbourne, Perth, Western Sydney, and Adelaide.
The Adelaide branch comprises Ms Elena Gasparyan, President of the Armenian Cultural Association of South Australia Inc., and Adelaide local Koryun Movsesian, who will together spearhead local advocacy efforts and strengthen engagement with government and civil society bodies in South Australia.
The launch coincided with the first ANC-AU delegation to the South Australian Parliament in over a decade, where the organisation held a series of constructive meetings with Members of Parliament and Government representatives from across the political spectrum.
The delegation included Armenian National Committee of Australia Executive Director Michael Kolokossian, ANC-AU Office Member Sebastian Majarian, who travelled from the National Office in Sydney.
During the visit to the South Australian state parliament, the delegation met with: Zoe Bettison MP - Member for Ramsay and Minister for Multicultural Affairs; Alex Drighton MP - Labor Member for Black; Josh Teague MP - Liberal Member for Heysen, Deputy Leader of the Opposition; John Gardner MP - Liberal Member for Morialta; Connie Bonaros MLC - Independent Member of the South Australian Legislative Council; Sarah Game MLC - Independent Member of the South Australian Legislative Council and Jing Lee MLC - Independent Member of the South Australian Legislative Council.
ANC-AU Executive Director Michael Kolokossian welcomed the new chapter in South Australia and said “With branches now active in almost every major Australian city, the Armenian National Committee of Australia is building a united national voice for Armenian-Australians. The launch of our Adelaide branch is a testament to the growing engagement of our community. Our family in defence of Armenia — our compatriots in the homeland and Armenian-Australians across this country — continues with renewed strength, unity, and determination.”
The ANC-AU also thanked the Members of the South Australian Parliament who engaged with the delegation and looks forward to ongoing collaboration as it works to strengthen the voice of the Armenian-Australian community across South Australia and the nation.
