SYDNEY: In August this year, the Armenian National Committee of Australia (ANC-AU) was pleased to announce the appointment of Mr Sebastian Majarian as the organisation's new Political Affairs Director.
Majarian, having completed his Higher School Certificate at St Pius X College in Chatswood, is currently undertaking a Bachelor of Laws and Bachelor of Communications (Social & Political Sciences) at the University of Technology Sydney (UTS).
He first became involved with the Armenian National Committee of Australia through his participation in the organisation's 2023 Youth Advocates program, one of the organisations #ANCAUOutreach initiatives which aims to foster the art of advocacy amongst tertiary aged students.
In May 2024, Majarian formally joined the organisation as an Administrative Assistant, under the leadership of the organisation’s National Board and Executive Director Michael Kolokossian, gaining first-hand insight into the vital advocacy work of the peak public affairs body of the Armenian-Australian community.
In July and August 2025, Majarian led a delegation from the Armenian National Committee of Australia to the South Australian Parliament, where the organisation's newest branch was established and the NSW Parliament House, meeting with over 20 elected representatives across both states.
ANC-AU Executive Director Michael Kolokossian said, “We’re thrilled to welcome Sebastian in his new role as Political Affairs Director. In a short time, he has learned the ropes with confidence and shown himself to be politically astute and deeply passionate about defending the rights of the global Armenian nation.
“His energy and commitment bring a fresh perspective to the ANC-AU team, and I look forward to seeing the impact he will make in advancing our community’s interests.”
Upon his appointment, Majarian expressed his gratitude, stating: “I’m grateful to Michael and the ANC-AU Board for trusting me with this responsibility. I am eager to continue serving our community, to strengthen our advocacy, and specifically to champion the inalienable and inherent rights of our brothers and sisters from Artsakh, who deserve to live in peace in the homeland of their forefathers.”
